Neal Kosciulek

Neal Kosciulek is a manager research analyst, passive funds research, for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers fixed-income exchange-traded funds and mutual funds.

Before joining Morningstar in 2019, Kosciulek spent five years as an examiner with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, conducting sales practice and financial operational examinations of broker/dealers across the country.

Kosciulek holds a bachelor's degree in economics from DePaul University's Driehaus College of Business. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from DePaul University's Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.

Maciej Kowara

Maciej Kowara is a strategist for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He specializes in active fixed-income funds.

Kowara has 20 years of investment industry experience. In 2016, he returned to Morningstar after spending four years as an asset-allocation portfolio manager for Aegon/Transamerica. Prior to that, he was a senior research consultant and portfolio manager at Morningstar Investment Services. Earlier in his career, he was vice president of the product analysis group at Deutsche Bank's Scudder Investments and worked as a mutual fund analyst for Morningstar.

Kowara holds a bachelor's degree in classics and philosophy from the University of Toronto and a doctorate in classics from Harvard University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Sam Kulahan

Sam Kulahan, CFA, is a senior manager research analyst for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers fixed-income strategies.

Before joining Morningstar in 2019, Kulahan spent more than three years at Deloitte Consulting and four years at General Electric, participating in its financial management program and working as a financial analyst for its defined-benefit pension plans.

Kulahan holds a bachelor's degree in business and management from Bournemouth University and a master's degree in finance and management from the University of St Andrews. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Samantha Lamas

Samantha Lamas is a behavioral researcher at Morningstar. She is a recent recipient of the Montgomery-Warschauer Award for her research in financial planning.

Lamas' research focuses on investor engagement and the factors that drive people's decision-making about investing and money. Her work delves into how people think about their financial goals, what they look for when seeking financial advice, and what kinds of mental shortcuts people use when making decisions about their personal finances.

Lamas joined Morningstar in 2016 as a product consultant working directly with the individual investor and advisor audience segments before moving into a research role.

Kenneth Lamont

Kenneth Lamont is a senior manager research analyst, passive strategies, for Morningstar UK Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers European passive funds.

Before joining Morningstar in September 2013, Lamont was a research analyst at Mergermarket, where he covered the infrastructure finance sector, and an associate at Markit, where he held an operational role within the portfolio valuations team.

Lamont holds a master’s degree in business economics and marketing from the University of Dundee and a master’s degree in investment, banking, and finance from the University of Glasgow. He also holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst® designation and has passed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst® program.

Thomas Lancereau

Thomas Lancereau, CFA, is North American director of manager research for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He is also Morningstar’s global lead analyst for J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs.

Prior to beginning his current role in 2016, Lancereau was director of cross-border manager research ratings and was responsible for overseeing the assignment of Morningstar Analyst Ratings on strategies available for sale in cross-border markets in Europe and Asia.

Before joining Morningstar in 2008, Lancereau was associate director for fund analysis for Standard & Poor’s Fund Services, where he conducted analysis, portfolio, performance, and team reviews across a range of asset classes including equity, fixed-income, and asset allocation. He was also a member of Standard & Poor’s fund rating committee. Previously, he worked as a country risk economist focusing on Latin America for BNP Paribas.

Lancereau holds a bachelor’s degree in international economics and a master’s degree in international economics and finance, both from the Université Paris-Dauphine. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Andrew Lane

Andrew Lane is the director of equity research, index strategies for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. In this role, he focuses on design and marketing efforts for indexes that leverage data points produced by the Morningstar equity research team. Before joining Morningstar in 2013, Lane earned a Master of Business Administration, with a specialization in applied security analysis, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to business school, he spent three years at Harris Associates LP, working in the trading operations group. Lane also holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and history from Boston College.

Lane has passed Level II of the Chartered Financial Analyst® program.

Andrew Lange

Andrew Lange is an equity analyst for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers application software and IT services companies.

Lange joined Morningstar in 2007 as an associate equity analyst based in Auckland, New Zealand before moving to the Chicago office in 2012.

Lange holds bachelor’s degrees in economics and finance from the University of Otago in New Zealand.

Heather Larsen

Heather Larsen is a manager research analyst for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. She analyzes mutual funds and contributes to ratings notes, global fund reports, and other security-specific research. She also contributes to articles and white papers regarding industry trends.

Larsen joined Morningstar in 2015 as a customer support representative for Morningstar Office and Morningstar Direct.

Larsen holds a master’s degree in international business finance and economics from the University of East Anglia and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Denison University.

Erin Lash

Erin Lash, CFA, is director of consumer sector equity research for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. In addition to leading the sector team, Lash covers packaged food and household and personal care companies.

Before joining Morningstar in 2006, she spent four years as an investment analyst covering retail, transportation, and technology firms for State Farm Insurance.

Lash holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Bradley University and a master’s degree in business administration, with concentrations in accounting and finance, from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. She ranked second in the food and tobacco industry in The Wall Street Journal’s annual “Best on the Street” analysts survey in 2013, the last year the survey was conducted.

Tom Lauricella

Tom Lauricella is chief markets editor for Morningstar.

Lauricella joined Morningstar in 2015 after a long career at The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones. During his time as a reporter and editor, he covered a wide array of investing topics, including mutual funds, retirement planning, and global financial markets. While at the Journal, he won the prestigious Gerald Loeb award for his role in covering the May 2010 stock market “Flash Crash.”

Phelix Lee

Phelix Lee is an equity analyst for Morningstar Asia Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers Asia tech stocks, with a focus on Greater China.

Before joining Morningstar in 2019, Lee spent five years at a Hong Kong-based brokerage firm as an equity analyst covering small/mid-cap names in tech hardware.

Lee holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in financial services from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Vishnu Lekraj

Vishnu Lekraj is a senior equity analyst for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers the healthcare services industry.

Lekraj joined Morningstar in 2008 after receiving a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Florida’s Hough Graduate School of Business. Before business school, he was a financial analyst for HSBC bank.

Lekraj holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the Warrington College of Business Administration at the University of Florida, where he graduated summa cum laude. He is also a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma international honor society. In 2012, Lekraj ranked first in the professional services industry in the StarMine Analyst Awards, presented by the Financial Times.

Alec Lucas

Alec Lucas is director of manager research, active funds research, for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He is a voting member of the Morningstar Medalist Ratings Committee for U.S. and international fixed-income strategies, covers fixed-income strategies from asset managers such as Baird, and is the lead analyst on Vanguard.

Lucas was a strategist on Morningstar's equity strategies team prior to assuming his current role in June 2022. He covered equity strategies from asset managers such as Primecap and American Funds and received the 2019 Citywire Professional Buyer Rising Star Award.

Before joining Morningstar in 2013, Lucas worked as a minister as well as a professor for Loyola University Chicago, among other institutions. From 2010 to 2011, he was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Heidelberg.

Lucas holds bachelor's degrees in philosophy and classics from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he graduated summa cum laude and with departmental honors, and a Master of Divinity, summa cum laude, from Trinity International University. He also holds a doctorate in theology, with distinction, from Loyola University Chicago and has published several articles and one book within that field.

Phuong Luong

Phuong Luong, CFP, is an educator and financial planner focused on economic justice and closing racial wealth divides. She is a Principal at Saltbox Financial, a virtual, fee-only RIA. Before joining Morningstar in 2014, Macker was a senior equity research associate for FBR & Co., where he covered the telecommunications services sector. Previously, he was an associate equity analyst for R.W. Baird and completed the summer associate rotational program at UBS Investment Bank. Before attending business school, Macker held analytical roles at Corporate Executive Board and Nextel.

Macker holds a bachelor’s degree from Carleton College, where he graduated cum laude, and a master’s degree in business administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Michael Malseed

Michael Malseed is a director of manager research for Morningstar Australasia Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He is responsible for conducting qualitative research on Australian and New Zealand fund managers and their funds.

Before joining Morningstar in June 2016, Malseed spent seven years as a senior investment analyst at Bennelong Australian Equity Partners and was responsible for fundamental stock research across a wide variety of sectors in the Australian share market. Prior to Bennelong, he worked for ING Investment Management as a large-cap equity analyst for four years, following a number of other various roles within the business.

Malseed holds a bachelor's degree in economics and finance from the University of Sydney.

Adam McCullough

Adam McCullough, CFA, is a senior manager research analyst for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers passive investment strategies.

Before joining Morningstar in 2016, McCullough was a growth equity analyst with FCI Advisors and served on the firm's manager research committee. Prior to FCI, he worked with the Chief Investment Officer at Tower Wealth Managers on two macro-driven investment strategies and a covered-call strategy. Both firms are Registered Investment Advisors in Kansas City, Missouri. McCullough began his career with Ernst & Young’s financial-services office advisory practice, focusing on risk management and derivative valuation.

McCullough holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from Syracuse University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Kevin McDevitt

Kevin McDevitt, CFA, is a senior manager research analyst for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers primarily domestic- and international-equity strategies, as well as some multi-asset strategies.

Before rejoining Morningstar in 2009, McDevitt was an associate equity analyst and later managed trust portfolios for AG Edwards, which became Wachovia (now Wells Fargo). McDevitt originally joined Morningstar in 1995. He was a mutual fund analyst from 1996 to 1999 and also held positions within the company’s international team, Morningstar Associates, and Morningstar Investment Services.

McDevitt holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the College of William & Mary and a master’s degree in business administration from Washington University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Travis Miller

Travis Miller is an energy and utilities strategist for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers energy and utilities. Previously, Miller was director of the utilities equity research team at Morningstar.

Before joining Morningstar in 2007, he was a reporter for several Chicago-area newspapers, including the Daily Herald in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, with concentrations in accounting and finance. He is a Level III candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst® program.

Jon Mills

Jon Mills, CFA, is an equity analyst for Morningstar Australasia Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers mining companies, including BHP, Rio Tinto, Vale, Glencore, Anglo American, Barrick, and Newmont.

Before joining Morningstar in 2021, Mills worked for two years at a Sydney-based financial technology company. Prior to that, he was an analyst for nearly four years at an investment research and fund management company.

Mills holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in finance and accounting and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Sydney. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Adam Millson

Adam Millson is an associate director of multi-asset and alternative strategies for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc.

Before assuming his current role in January 2023, Millson was a senior manager research analyst covering multi-asset and alternative strategies. Prior to joining Morningstar Research Services LLC in August 2019, he was a data research analyst within Morningstar's Data and Development Center, where he led the activations and client response squads. Millson initially joined Morningstar in 2017, where he was a client services representative for Morningstar Direct.

Millson holds a bachelor's degree in finance, with honors, from the University of Cincinnati's Carl H. Lindner College of Business.

Mike Mulach

Before assuming his current role in 2019, Mulach worked in data and client services as a member of the Morningstar Development Program. Prior to that, he interned as an investment banking analyst at TM Capital and as a wealth management analyst for UBS Financial Services.

Linda Abu Mushrefova

Linda Abu Mushrefova, CFA, is a manager research analyst for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. She covers equity strategies.

Before rejoining Morningstar in 2017, Mushrefova was an analyst on the fixed-income team at Neuberger Berman, covering opportunistic strategies. From 2013-16, she held a variety of roles at Morningstar, including as a product consultant and a data analyst for the firm's open-end and hedge fund databases.

Mushrefova holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Northwestern University. She also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Matias Möttölä

Matias Möttölä, CFA, is a director for Morningstar UK Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He is responsible for leading the EMEA cross-border team’s research on multi-asset and liquid alternative strategies, as well coordinating global thought leadership work within the manager research team. He has authored and co-authored several white papers across a wide range of topics. Möttölä joined Morningstar in 2010 as an editor-analyst. He began his career in 1995 as a business journalist and author in Finland, his native country. His work has been published in several major Finnish print publications. Möttölä holds a master’s degree from the University of Tampere. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a past president of the CFA Society Finland.

Sachin Nagarajan

Sachin Nagarajan is an associate manager research analyst, equity strategies, for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He assigns forward-looking ratings to U.S.-based, actively managed stock funds.

Before joining Morningstar's manager research team in 2022, Nagarajan worked on Morningstar's editorial team, where he showcased the firm's equity research and sustainable investing content. He was also a customer support representative on the Morningstar Office support team.

Hari Narayan

Hari Narayan is an associate equity analyst for Morningstar, covering technology, media, and telecom companies.

Narayan joined Morningstar in 2014. Before assuming his current role, he was a performance analyst on the Global Funds team.

Narayan holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Illinois. He has passed Level II of the Chartered Financial Analyst® Program.

Tom Nations

Tom Nations, CFP, is the Director of Research & Content, Morningstar Data, Direct & Reporting.

Before assuming his current role in 2021, Nations was a manager research analyst covering equity strategies, then an associate director of multi-asset and alternative strategies for Morningstar Research Services, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar Inc. Prior to that, he spent more than five years working for a Chicago-based investment and financial advisory firm, conducting mutual fund and asset-class research to help build and review tailored asset allocations for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.

Nations holds a bachelor's degree in business economics from Miami University's Farmer School of Business. He also holds the Certified Financial Planner™ designation.

Sarah Newcomb

Sarah Newcomb, Ph.D., is a behavioral economist for Morningstar. In this role, she works to integrate the findings of her research into Morningstar financial management applications and tools.

An interdisciplinary scholar, Newcomb has expertise in consumer psychology, economic decision-making, personal money management, and cognitive and social psychology. Before joining Morningstar in 2015, she earned her doctorate in behavioral economics from the University of Maine, where her work focused on the psychological barriers to sound personal money management. She is the author of LOADED: Money, Psychology, and How to Get Ahead without Leaving Your Values Behind (Wiley, 2016).

Newcomb also holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Salem State University, a master’s degree in financial economics from University of Maine, and a master’s certification in personal financial planning from Bentley University.

Leslie Norton

Leslie Norton is editorial director for sustainability at Morningstar.

Norton joined Morningstar in 2021 after a long career at Barron's Magazine and Barrons.com, where she managed the magazine's well-known Q&A feature and launched its sustainable investing coverage. Before that, she was Barron's Asia editor and mutual funds editor. While at Barron's, she won a SABEW "Best in Business" award for a series of stories investigating fraudulent Chinese equities, which protected the savings of investors and pensioners by warning about deceptive stocks before they crashed.

She holds a bachelor's degree from Yale College, where she majored in English, and a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University.

Barbara Noverini

Barbara Noverini is a senior equity analyst for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. She covers diversified industrials and waste-management providers.

Before joining Morningstar in 2011, Noverini was a research analyst for DeMatteo Monness, a boutique broker/dealer, for five years. From 2001 to 2006, she was a researcher in litigation services for Round Table Group, which is now a part of Thomson Reuters. She began her career as a quality assurance analyst for Hewitt Associates.

Noverini holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in public health informatics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.

Brian O'Neill

Brian O'Neill is associate director, fund analysis with Morningstar Canada. He is frequently quoted in the media as an expert on the Canadian mutual fund industry, and he is a regular guest on the Business News Network (BNN). Prior to joining Morningstar in 2004, Brian worked for BMO Nesbitt Burns, specializing in managed products for private clients. Before that, he worked in the tourism industry, holding a management position within the St. Lawrence Parks Commission. Brian earned a bachelor of commerce (honours) degree from Queen's University and is a CFA charterholder.

Kenneth Oshodi

Ken Oshodi is a manager research analyst for Morningstar Research Services LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers fixed-income strategies.

Before joining Morningstar in 2016, Oshodi was a senior financial associate for Oppenheimer & Co. for three years, where he performed investment research and portfolio construction. He has also held positions at First Bank & Trust and JPMorgan Chase.

Oshodi holds a bachelor’s degree in jazz studies from The Juilliard School. He is a Level II candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst® program.

Nicolas Owens

Nicolas Owens is an industrials equity analyst for Morningstar Research Services, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He covers the aerospace and defense sector, including Boeing, Airbus, and major North American commercial airlines and defense contractors.

Owens previously covered the aerospace sector for Morningstar from 2002-05. Since then, he filled a range of business roles commercializing Morningstar research across a wide swath of the investment audience.

Megan Pacholok

Francesco Paganelli

Francesco Paganelli is a manager research analyst for Morningstar Italy SRL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. He is based in Milan and is primarily responsible for the coverage of multi-asset & alternatives funds.

Before joining Morningstar in 2012, where he previously held the role of product analyst for retail solutions, Paganelli worked in the capital markets department of LBBW Bank in Stuttgart, in the middle office of UniCredit in Milan, and as a market analyst for STX Services in Amsterdam.

Paganelli holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics from LUISS University in Rome and a master’s degree in economics and management of international institutions from Bocconi University in Milan. He studied for a semester as an exchange student at HEC Montréal in Canada and at Niigata-Ken International University of Japan.
